Which is the best programming language?

As I am writing this content, there are dozens of languages propping up and the developers community are eager to know what it’s about. And I believe with more interest in computer science, the future has lot of new languages in store for this world. Choosing the language to start with, for someone who like to have a long career in programming is little tricky.

We cannot pick a couple of languages and wish that they’ll stand the test of times.

Instead, understanding the evolution of programming languages will make us where to focus next.

When I am doing my schooling in mid and late 90s, our curriculum had BASIC as the programming language. And our high school syllabus focused on C. As I grew up, I heard lot of languages getting hot in the industry like Java. Then came the mighty Python, Ruby, Golang.

So what would be the best approach is to look into the exact requirements of the product or solution we design. If the core component of the solution is web service, it could be Python, Ruby or Java. For intensive I/O and sockets operations C/C++, would be apt.
